German Ambassador to Azerbaijan supports territorial integrity of Azerbaijan

On October 19, Minister of Justice Fikrat Mammadov received Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Azerbaijan Wolfgang Manig at his request.

Noting the development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Germany in various directions, the Minister stressed the effective interaction of the Ministries of Justice of our countries, including close ties with the German Organization for International Cooperation (GIZ) and the Foundation for International Legal Cooperation (IRZ).

The Minister spoke about the judicial and legal reforms implemented under the leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev and recognized internationally, noting the participation of German experts in this field.

During the meeting, the ambassador was informed about Armenia's military aggression against Azerbaijan, especially the recent war crimes against civilians.

It was stated that, our densely populated cities and regions came under heavy artillery fire from Armenia, which did not comply with the agreed humanitarian ceasefire, 25 people, including women and children, were killed and more than 120 were injured as a result of rocket attacks on the city of Ganja, which is located ten kilometers far from the line of contact. In total, 61 civilians were killed, 282 were injured and 2,200 civil infrastructure facilities were damaged. With these war crimes committed by Armenia, it grossly violates the norms of international humanitarian law and the 1949 Geneva Conventions.

It was also noted that, Armenian leadership, who carries out illegal economic activities in the occupied territories, destructed or falsified the names of historical, cultural and other monuments of Azerbaijan, carrying out the policy of illegal settlement and thus showing no intention to return our lands, making statements openly inciting war, completely disrupted the negotiation process.

It was noted that all this was brought to the attention of the world community by the President Ilham Aliyev at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly.

At the same time, it was regrettable that the German Bundestag deputies illegally visited our occupied lands. Ambassador Manig said that these deputies were representatives of a radical party with a fascist position based on the country's court decisions, emphasizing the Federal Government's support for Azerbaijan's territorial integrity.

He expressed gratitude for the accurate and complete information on the recent events, and stressed the importance of promoting the truth about Azerbaijan in his country. Noting that Azerbaijan is a friend, the guest stressed the tolerance of our country, expressed readiness to expand bilateral relations, and said that the

upcoming German presidency in the European Union will create additional opportunities for cooperation. The ambassador also praised the close ties with the Ministry of Justice.

During the conversation, the sides touched upon the prospects of cooperation between the two countries in the field of justice, and exchanged views on legal assistance, extradition and other new areas of cooperation.
