An event was held at the Academy of Justice in the format of a video conference with the participation of mediators who successfully completed the initial training course.
Acting Rector of the Academy Elchin Khalafov, EU Ambassador to Azerbaijan Kestutis Jankauskas and Acting Chairman of the Board of the Mediation Council Ruslan Mirzayev spoke at the event.
The speakers spoke about the application of the institution of mediation, international experience in this field, the tasks facing the first mediators and wished them success.
It was noted that, within the framework of progressive judicial and legal reforms carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, important steps have been taken to introduce mediation, which is an important tool in resolving disputes out of court, reducing the workload of courts, and the Law on Mediation was adopted. The Mediation Council was established in accordance with the Presidential Decree dated April 3, 2019 on "Deepening reforms in the judicial-legal system".Within the framework of a joint project with the European Union, trainers on mediation were trained, the Academy of Justice was accepted as a member to the Council as a mediation training institution, and training of trainers on alternative dispute resolution was organized with the involvement of international experts.
The Academy has launched initial training courses for those who want to become mediators in accordance with the "Rules for training and advanced training of mediators."International experts Ruslan Mirzayev and Adi Gavrilla taught dispute theory, dispute analysis and dynamics, basics of mediation, alternative dispute resolution, mediation process and stages, basic principles of mediation (confidentiality, neutrality / independence, impartiality, voluntariness) and other relevant topics and practical trainings were held.
At the end of the course, 49 people passed the relevant exam and were awarded a certificate of completion of the "Initial training course for mediators."
The Academy of Justice continues to accept applications from people wishing to become mediators, and with the support of the European Union plans to involve the next group of candidates in the training, as well as to create the necessary conditions for mediation in all regions of the country.
