On March 3, Mr. Fikrat Mammadov, the Minister of Justice met with Japanese Ambassador to Azerbaijan Junichi Wada.
Noting the development of fruitful cooperation between the two countries, the Minister stressed the great victory of our country in the Patriotic War under the leadership of the President, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Mr. Ilham Aliyev, noted the liberation of our lands from 30 years of Armenian occupation, war crimes committed by the aggressor and the complete destruction of our territories.
Speaking about the measures taken to inform the world community objectively and fully, it was noted with satisfaction that the Japanese media covered the realities of Azerbaijan.
The ambassador stressed Japan's deepening friendly relations with Azerbaijan for 30 years, high level of political, economic and intergovernmental relations, expressed his country's position on peace in the region and peaceful settlement of the war. He expressed his condolences to those killed in the war and expressed readiness to provide all possible support to our country in the restoration of our liberated territories.
The sides exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation in the legal field, spoke about the judicial and legal reforms carried out under the leadership of the President, and noted the support of the Government of Japan in this area. They also expressed interest in the transparent selection of judges in Azerbaijan, which is considered an example in Europe, and said that a new test exam was held with candidates for judges.
The sides discussed issues that the forthcoming 14th UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, which is held every five years, will be held in Kyoto, Japan in this eve, and issues on participation of the Azerbaijani delegation led by the Minister of Justice in this prestigious forum.
The guest got acquainted with the Museum of the History of Justice at the Ministry and wrote his heartfelt words in a book.
