According to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Service in the Judicial Bodies", persons are admitted to positions with senior (except for the Chief Justice Advisor, Justice Colonel and Medical Service Colonel) and middle special ranks, as a rule, on the basis of a competition.

Elections to fill the positions of Dean of the Faculty, Head of Department, Scientific and Professorial Staff at the Academy of Justice are carried out by the Academic Council of the Academy in accordance with labor legislation, including the "Rules for Holding the Positions of Head of Department, Dean and Deputy Dean in Higher Education Institutions" approved by the Resolution No. 5/5 of the Collegium of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 15.11.2017, and the Regulations on the Rules for Holding the Positions of Professor-Teacher and Head of Department in Higher Education Institutions" approved by Order No. 401 dated 07.08.1996.

Candidates wishing to be admitted to other positions requiring higher education are interviewed by the Competition Commission for Admission to the Judicial Academy.
