According to the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On Service in Justice Bodies", persons are admitted to positions corresponding to senior (except for the Chief Justice Counsellor, Justice Colonel and Medical Service Colonel) and middle special ranks, as a rule, on the basis of a competition.

Elections for the positions of Faculty Dean, Head of Department, Scientific and Pedagogical Staff at the Academy of Justice are conducted by the Academic Council of the Academy in accordance with labor legislation, including the "Rules for Holding the Positions of Head of Department, Dean and Deputy Dean in Higher Education Institutions", approved by Resolution No. 5/5 of the Collegium of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 15.11.2017, as well as the Regulation on the "Rules for Holding the Positions of Professor-Teacher and Head of Department in Higher Education Institutions", approved by Order No. 401 dated 07.08.1996.

Candidates applying for positions requiring other higher education are interviewed by the Competition Commission for Admission to the Academy of Justice.
