There was held a meeting with Gerald Duda, the head of the "Good Local Self-Government Program in the South Caucasus" of the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) at the Centre for works with Municipalities of the Ministry of Justice.
The meeting noted the effective cooperation with the German Society for International Cooperation in the field of local self-government and emphasized the special role of GIZ in the work to educate municipality members and staff. The importance of expanding the coverage of enlightenment works with relate to formation of the new staff of municipalities as a result of elections held in December, 2019 was brought into notice.
It was also informed about the works done to assist the municipalities in the organization of their activities, in view of the importance of the use of electronic information and communication technologies in the modern era, it has been announced that works on the establishment of a working portal with municipalities have been started.
Gerald Duda appreciated highly the cooperation with the Centre for works with Municipalities of the Ministry of Justice and gave information about the new program, which will be launched in April of this year, in addition to continuing awareness-raising activities on the program, he said that new areas will be covered, such as increase of role of women in the field of e-governance, digitalization and local self-governance.
The meeting also discussed opportunities for cooperation with local self-governing bodies to exchange experience with local authorities in order to improve the professionalism of municipality members and officials in accordance with the "State Program for Development of Azerbaijan Justice for 2019-2023".
