The friendly and brotherly Ministries of Justice of Azerbaijan and Turkey closely cooperate, hold regular visits of delegations and joint events, and provide effective legal assistance.
Rector of the Turkish Academy of Justice Muhittin Ozdemir visited Azerbaijan with a delegation led by him to expand cooperation between the justice authorities of the two countries.
During the visit, the guests laid flowers at the tomb of national leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honors. They also visited the Alley of Martyrs, the graves of our compatriots who died for the independence and territorial integrity of our country, and the "Turkish Martyrdom" monument erected in memory of the martyred Turkish soldiers.
Then the delegation visited the Academy of Justice, discussed interactions, made presentations on the training of lawyers, training programs, distance learning in video conference format with the application of modern ICT, as well as on the e-Learning Platform.
After the event, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Justice Academies of the two countries on cooperation in the field of training of judges, prosecutors and candidates for judges.
The memorandum envisages professional development of lawyers, implementation of joint training programs, organization of symposia, trainings, seminars and other educational events and field trips, their holding directly or in video format in accordance with the pandemic conditions.
On July 5, the delegation met with the Minister of Justice, Chairman of the Judicial-Legal Council Mr. Fikrat Mammadov.
Noting that relations between the two countries are at the highest level, the Minister noted that friendly and fraternal relations were successfully developed on the principles of the founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Ataturk’s "Azerbaijan's joy is our joy, sorrow is our sorrow" and national leader Heydar Aliyev’s "One nation, two states". He stressed the special role of the President Mr. Ilham Aliyev and President Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan in strengthening of these relations. He noted the moral and political support of the Turkish people, including the President of Turkey, all high-ranking officials of the brotherly country, including the Minister of Justice Mr. Abdulhamit Gul, during the 44-day war.
F.Mammadov noted that the Turkish President's visit to Shusha last month and the Shusha Declaration signed between Azerbaijan and Turkey raised our relations to the level of alliance, adding that this important document of exceptional political
and historical significance opened new opportunities for cooperation in various fields. He said that the newly signed Memorandum of Understanding, guided by the Shusha Declaration, is the first document in the field of justice and serves to deepen our relations.
Expressing satisfaction with his visit to Azerbaijan, the guest noted that he felt like in his homeland, that our peoples with ancient roots understood and supported each other, and stressed that Azerbaijani-Turkish relations reached a historic peak with the Shusha Declaration. M.Ozdemir said he was very happy with Azerbaijan's victory in the Patriotic War and expressed confidence that the two brotherly countries would continue to sign victories together.
The sides exchanged views on judicial and legal reforms, touched upon the transparent selection of judges in Azerbaijan, and noted with satisfaction the support of the Academy of Justice of the brotherly country in their training, as well as the training of candidates in Turkey. The guest attached great importance to legal relations and expressed readiness to cooperate more closely in this area, emphasizing the benefits of the exchange of good practices for both sides.
The guests got acquainted with the Museum of the History of Justice at the Ministry, as well as special stands dedicated to Azerbaijani-Turkish relations.
The event was attended by Turkish Ambassador to Azerbaijan Cahit Bagci.
The visit also included official meetings of guests, acquaintance with modern judicial infrastructure, including the newly commissioned Surakhani District Court building and electronic court system, the activities of the ASAN Center, which is an Azerbaijani brand and provides relevant services to the judiciary, as well as the Heydar Aliyev Center, the Military Loot Park, which embodies the Great Victory and heroism of our army in the Patriotic War, as well as the cultural and historical monuments of the capital.
