As part of the work carried out in the Republic of Azerbaijan to systematize and ensure access to information on research methods used in forensic examinations, the State Register of Forensic Examination Research Methods has been launched.
The State Register of Forensic Examination Research Methods is an electronic information resource that ensures the collection, registration, systematization and updating of information on research methods applied in forensic examination studies, as well as the provision of publicly available information to the public. The State Register is established, maintained and managed by the Ministry of Justice.
The maintenance of the Register is regulated by the “Rules for Maintaining the State Register of Forensic Examination Research Methods and Including New Methods in the Register”, approved by Resolution No. 227 of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated June 29, 2020.
The Register is currently operational and available on the official website of the Ministry of Justice (www.justice.gov.az), as well as on the official website of the Ministry’s Forensic Examination Center (www.expert.gov.az).
The Register’s database is formed based on information on research conducted by the relevant forensic examination institutions of the Ministry of Justice, as well as the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Health and Ministry of Defence.
The Register contains information including the name of the research method, the relevant field of forensic examination, the name and legal address of the forensic examination institution that submitted the method, the passport of the research method, the date on which the method was entered into the State Register, and its registration number. This enables forensic experts to use research methods included in the Register when conducting examinations and ensures that forensic examination studies are carried out in accordance with established procedures and legislative requirements.
The launch of the Register serves to ensure the collection of information on methods applied in forensic examination studies in a unified database and their systematic application.
