The Ministry of Justice continues to take effective cooperation measures with relevant authorities of foreign states to ensure the arrest and extradition to Azerbaijan of persons accused of committing crimes who have been placed on international wanted lists.
On October 29, another individual who had been placed on the international wanted list by the National Central Bureau of Interpol in the Republic of Azerbaijan and located in the Republic of Albania was extradited to Azerbaijan by the Ministry.
In particular, Elchin Nusrat oglu Abdulxaligov, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, was located and arrested in the Republic of Albania. He is accused of embezzling a large sum of money amounting to AZN 78,000. In 2020, while working as a sales specialist at GP Stock Feed LLC, he allegedly collected cash payments from distributors on various occasions that were entrusted to him and intended for deposit into the company's cash register, and used the funds for personal purposes, thereby misappropriating them (Article 179.3.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan).
Following a request by the Prosecutor General's Office and subsequent negotiations, consent was obtained for the extradition of the individual to Azerbaijan. This once again demonstrates the international standing of our state and confirms the Republic of Albania's position as a reliable partner of Azerbaijan.
Elchin Nusrat oglu Abdulxaligov was brought from the Republic of Albania to Azerbaijan by responsible officials of the Ministry of Justice's Main Department for International Cooperation and the Penitentiary Service. Pursuant to a court order for his detention, he was placed in the relevant pre-trial detention facility.
The Ministry continues to take the necessary measures in this area.
