The Ministry of Justice continues to implement effective cooperation measures with the competent authorities of foreign states regarding the apprehension and extradition to Azerbaijan of individuals accused of criminal offences who have been placed on the international wanted list.
On July 29, the Ministry carried out the extradition to Azerbaijan of another individual who had been placed on the international wanted list by Interpol’s National Central Bureau in the Republic of Azerbaijan and whose whereabouts had been established in Montenegro.
Specifically, the whereabouts of Hidayat Nemat oglu Suleymanov, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan accused of fraud under Article 178.2.4 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, were established in Montenegro, where he was arrested. He is charged with fraud committed in 2024 by making false promises to the victim on various occasions, with the intent of unlawfully obtaining another person's property through deception and abuse of trust for personal gain, thereby causing substantial damage.
Following the request of the Prosecutor General’s Office and the negotiations held, an agreement was reached on the extradition of the individual to Azerbaijan. This once again confirms the international standing of our country and demonstrates that Montenegro is a reliable partner for Azerbaijan.
Hidayat Nemat oglu Suleymanov was brought to Azerbaijan from Tivat, Montenegro, by responsible officials of the Main Department for International Cooperation of the Ministry of Justice and the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice, and was placed in the relevant pre-trial detention facility pursuant to the court’s detention order.
The Ministry continues to take the necessary measures in this area.
