The Ministry of Justice continues effective cooperation with the competent authorities of foreign states to ensure the detention and extradition to Azerbaijan of persons accused of committing crimes who have been placed on the international wanted list.
On October 1, the Ministry extradited to the Republic of Azerbaijan another person who had been placed on the international wanted list by the National Central Bureau of Interpol in Azerbaijan and whose whereabouts had been established in the Republic of Poland.
Ziraddin Elchin oglu Rustamov, a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, who was charged in 2023 under Article 178.3.2 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan with fraud committed for mercenary purposes by abusing trust and deception, causing substantial damage to victims through false promises made at different times in order to unlawfully acquire their property, was located in the Republic of Poland and detained.
Following a request from the Prosecutor General’s Office, as well as negotiations conducted in this regard, an agreement was reached on the extradition of the individual to Azerbaijan. This once again demonstrates Azerbaijan’s reputation in the international community and confirms the Republic of Poland as a reliable partner for our country.
Ziraddin Elchin oglu Rustamov was brought to Azerbaijan from Warsaw, Republic of Poland, by responsible officials of the Ministry of Justice’s Main Directorate for International Cooperation and the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry. Pursuant to the court’s detention order, he was placed in the relevant pre-trial detention facility.
The Ministry continues to take the necessary measures in this area.
