After the restoration of our state independence, important steps have been taken in Azerbaijan towards the formation and development of multi-partyness, one of the foundations of a democratic, legal state and civil society, founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev.

In the past period, 55 political parties with different orientations, goals and objectives were registered in accordance with the legislation governing the activities in this area.

Today, various political parties in our country are closely involved in the socio-political life, being represented in the legislative power and local self-government authorities.

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, is carrying out large-scale purposeful reforms in all areas, including in the way of development of the political system.

Speaking at the first session of the Milli Majlis of the sixth convocation, the President's recommendation on the importance of a broad inter-party dialogue, discussions with party leaders in the Presidential Administration, representation of various parties in the leadership of the Milli Majlis and committees serve to improve the multi-party system.

The head of state stressed that a deed must be sacred for every political force, regardless of different views, and it is a statehood, independence, freedom, prosperity and development.

Recently, the Ministry of Justice studied the issue of compliance of the constituent documents with the legislation submitted by the Free Democrats Party and the New Time Party for registration and made a decision on their state registration.

In this regard, a meeting was held on April 16 between the chairmen of the registered parties Sulhaddin Akbar and Musa Aghayev under the leadership of the Ministry of Justice and they were presented the state registration certificates. Emphasizing that they supported the process initiated by the President to develop a multi-party system, the party leaders expressed satisfaction with the works done and expressed confidence that the steps taken in this direction will serve to strengthen our statehood.
