On the eve of the professional holiday of justice officials, the Ministry of Justice held a meeting with representatives of the European Union and the embassies of the US, UK, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, Latvia, Belgium, Czech Republic and Greece in our country.
The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the issues of expanding legal cooperation, informing the international community of the latest developments in the justice and the judicial field, and the practical application of legislation.
Heads of relevant departments of the Ministry spoke about the progress of the Azerbaijani justice system, provided information on progressive justice and judicial reforms and innovations laid by the national leader Heydar Aliyev and successfully implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, and emphasized fruitful cooperation with states and international organizations in this field.
According to the Order of the Head of State on the humanization of the punishment policy dated February 10, 2017, making significant changes to the criminal law, limiting the freedom, identification of a new alternative type of punishment, including the decriminalization of a number of acts, and the use of electronic surveillance tools were noted at the meeting.
The guests were also informed about the implementation of the Decree of the President of the Republic on April 3, 2019 "On Deepening of the reforms in the judicial-legal system", which is an important "road map" for the development of justice and the judicial system, including the complex works realized in the direction of solution of problems existed in judicial system.
At the same time, the guests were informed about Azerbaijan's innovations and digital technologies applied in the field of justice – simple and quick conduction of notarial acts, electron justice kiosk enabling distant services to population, mobile notary bag, “Mobile notary” software on electron registration of power of attorneys for driving vehicles without appealing to notary offices.
Representatives of the diplomatic corps expressed congratulations on the 101st anniversary of the establishment of the Azerbaijani justice, noting that they have been following the progress made in the field of justice and the judiciary in recent years, and that reforms in this area are commendable. At the same time, the sides exchanged views on the distribution of these achievements in their countries.
The sides discussed perspectives of mutual cooperation, explained the requirements of the legislation in various areas of justice activity, talked about its practical application and clarified issues of interest.
The guests were acquainted with the expositions reflecting the glorious history and stages of development of the Azerbaijani justice in the Museum of Justice History in the Ministry, and they were presented brochures in English about justice and judicial reforms and their practical results and applied innovations.
