A year 2019 was proclaimed as the Year of Nasimi by the President Ilham Aliyev and the 650th anniversary of the birth of the great Azerbaijani poet and thinker Imadaddin Nasimi is widely celebrated in the country. On this occasion, the Ministry of Justice has organized a series of events dedicated to Nasimi's life and creativity, including a "Book Day" aimed at raising interest in young people to reading, the library funds of the serving institutions of the Ministry’s Penitentiary Service were enriched with about 4 thousands books of Nasimi and other different fictions, public and scientific books, the justice officials got acquainted with the extensive book exhibition named as "Imadaddin Nasimi - 650".
On October 17, the Ministry of Justice organized a literary and art event titled "Humanism in Nasimi’s creativity" dedicated to the 650th anniversary of Nasimi in the Academy of Justice.
The leaders and collective of the Ministry, young justice officials, advocates, civil society and mass media representatives attended the meeting, where were invited the representatives of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences and other scientific and educational institutions.
The event was opened by the speech of the head of the Department of Human Rights and Public Relations of the Ministry of Justice Aynur Sabitova and the head of the Academy of Justice Elchin Khalafov and they said that the announcement of the year of 2019 as "Nasimi year" was a great expression of the attention and care of our country to humanitarian thought and our literature and stressed the importance of this series of events in terms of the study and promotion of Nasimi's heritage.
The event was highlighted with the presentations of the leading scientific worker of the Institute of Oriental Studies named after academician Ziya Bunyadov of ANAS, head of "Nasimi" group Saadat Shikhiyeva on "Nasimi's personality in the context of human values", Deputy director of scientific works of the Institute of Manuscripts named after Mahammad Fuzuli of ANAS Pasha Karimov on “Research history, manuscripts and followers of Nasimi creativity”, and Associate Professor of Azerbaijan University of Languages Ulviyya Mammadova on “Literature and Music in the light of Nasimi”.
In the speeches, there was spoken about the greatness of Nasimi's heritage, the universal values he propagated, the ideas of freedom and humanism, and that these values taught by the poet have been exemplary for people for hundreds of years. It was noted that, it is still important to research the rich heritage, humanity, humanistic and philosophical ideas of Nasimi, having important significance in moral enlightenment of the people and which has made a significant contribution to world poetry.
Then the event continued with the artistic section, poems about the poet's creativity were told, songs composed on “Neyleram” ghazal and other folk songs were sung.
