An international training on a number of conventions of the Hague Conference on Private International Law was held in Baku in September.
The training was attended by 50 participants, including employees of the Ministry of Justice and the Justice Academy of the Ministry, judges, lawyers and notaries, as well as members of delegations from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The training was conducted by Melissa Ford, First Secretary of the Permanent Bureau of the Hague Conference and an experienced expert.
The main objective of the training was to prevent potential difficulties that may arise in the application of the 1970 Hague Convention on the Taking of Evidence Abroad in Civil or Commercial Matters, ensure the proper understanding and application of its provisions, and enhance the relevant knowledge of legal professionals working in this field.
Relevant domestic procedures are currently underway regarding Azerbaijan’s accession to the aforementioned Convention.
At the same time, working meetings were held between representatives of the relevant structural units of the Ministry and the organization’s representative as part of the training. Discussions focused on future cooperation, accession to new conventions, the digitalization of services in the justice sector, including e-Apostille, and other related matters.
It should be noted that, with the aim of establishing a treaty framework in the civil field with a number of countries, including most European countries, the Republic of Azerbaijan has acceded to the 1965 Hague Convention on the Service Abroad of Judicial and Extrajudicial Documents in Civil or Commercial Matters and the 2007 Hague Convention on the International Recovery of Child Support and Other Forms of Family Maintenance, adopted within the framework of the Hague Conference on Private International Law.
