On September 4, 2019, a meeting was held with the Head of the Civil Society Affairs Sector of the Council of Europe, Mrs. Mary-Ann Hennessey, who is visiting our country, in the Registration and Notary General Department of the Ministry of Justice.
During the meeting, Mrs. Mary-Ann Hennessey provided information on the initial draft of the “Civil Engagement Promotion Project in Azerbaijan”. It was noted that, the main goal is to ensure the active participation of non-governmental organizations operating not only in the city of Baku, but also in the regions, ensuring their mutually beneficial cooperation with state bodies and municipalities.
The event also highlighted the need for a sustained and inclusive dialogue between non-governmental organizations and government agencies to achieve real civil participation in decision-making.
It was also emphasized the exceptional role of the Project of "Civil Society Dialogue in Azerbaijan", implemented by the Council of Europe and the European Union in 2016-2018, in building partnership between the government of Azerbaijan and civil society representatives.
