On October 7, the 3rd meeting of the Ministers of Justice of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) member states was held in Istanbul, Türkiye.
The event was attended by the Ministers of Justice of the OTS member states and other high-level representatives.
The meeting addressed the development of multilateral cooperation among the justice authorities of the OTS member states, the expansion of experience-sharing, the application of modern technologies, and other matters of mutual interest.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Azerbaijan Farid Ahmadov highlighted the growing role of the OTS in international processes and noted that the common history, culture and values of the Turkic states provide a strong foundation for further developing cooperation among them.
Speaking about multilateral cooperation in the field of justice within the framework of the OTS, the Minister of Justice noted that, at Azerbaijan’s initiative, a network of forensic examination institutions had been established and that the first meeting of the network was held in Baku this spring.
The Minister of Justice emphasized the importance of reaching agreement on the draft first multilateral treaty on legal assistance in civil matters within the framework of the OTS.
Farid Ahmadov also put forward initiatives related to the enforcement of court decisions and digital transformation in the field of justice. The Minister noted that these initiatives would contribute to deepening cooperation in the field of justice within the OTS framework, strengthening practical ties and advancing digitalization. The initiatives were supported, and specific measures for their implementation were reflected in the Joint Communiqué signed at the end of the meeting.
The participants agreed that the 4th meeting of the Ministers of Justice of the OTS member states will be held in the Kyrgyz Republic.
It should be noted that the 1st meeting of the Ministers of Justice of the OTS member states was held in Astana in 2024, while the 2nd meeting was held in Baku in 2025.
