As part of the measures taken to improve judicial activity under the leadership of the President Ilham Aliyev, transparent election of candidates for the post of judge is continued. Currently, 44 candidates who have successfully passed exams are being trained at the Academy of Justice to be prepared for the position of judge. The courses teach important and relevant topics with the participation of influential local and international experts, as well as special attention is paid to the study of the precedent law of the European Court of Human Rights.
To this end, the European Court’s Judge on Azerbaijan Latif Huseynov gave a lecture to the candidates on "The issues of application of the European Convention on Human Rights" and gave them recommendations on the application of the Convention.
During the lecture there were made discussions on a number of decisions of the European Court, and interested questions were answered.
A seminar on "Protection and legal guarantee of intellectual property rights" was held for the candidates within the framework of the training course.
Acting rector of the Academy Elchin Khalafov and chairman of the Board of Directors of the Agency Kamran Imanov spoke at the opening of the seminar held by joint organization of the Academy of Justice and Intellectual Property Agency, and gave information about judicial-legal reforms made under the leadership of the President, including establishment of specialized courts, enlargement of appeals to the courts, as well as about the measures realized in the field of intellectual property and noted the importance of the event.
The officials of the Agency attending the seminar made presentations on the topic and held interesting discussions.
