The Azerbaijan delegation with 11 persons was in 4-day acquaintance visit in Lithuania by the support of the Representation and regional office of the International Migration Organization in our country within the framework of the project “Increase of national potential on struggle against human trafficking in Azerbaijan” financed jointly by the European Union and Development Fund of the International Migration Organization (IMO).

The delegation included the representatives of the Academy of Justice of the Ministry of Justice, General Department of struggle against human trafficking of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, General Prosecutor’s Office and the Bar Association, the judges of the courts of appeal and regional courts.

Main purpose of the visit is to be acquainted with the processes and rules in the field of human trafficking, making legal decisions on struggle against human trafficking, application of international and European standards in protection of human trafficking victims, analysis of legislation and pursuit of crimes on human trafficking in Lithuania.

The delegation of the Republic of Lithuania in Vilnius and Kaunas held meetings with the Chancellor of Lithuania Mr. Algirdas Stonechats, deputy of the General Prosecutor Rimvyadas Valentukevicius, Vice-minister of Social Security and Labour Etvidas Bingales, General Police commissar of Lithuania Linas Pernavas and the judges of the Supreme Court. They made exchange of useful ideas and experience.

Our delegation spoke with the visual presentation on legislative and legal practice on struggle against human trafficking in our country at the meeting with the Chancellor of the Government. As well as, there were made interesting debates on positive experience in this field, approaches and new tendencies, process of support of human trafficking victims.

Our delegation got acquainted with the activity of Vilnius Crisis Centre, Men’s Association of Crisis Centre in Kaunas, the command for struggle against human trafficking under the Kaunas city municipality for supporting the human trafficking victims within the framework of the visit.

At the same time, the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Lithuania was visited, the Ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary Tamerlan Garayev gave detailed information about the activity of the embassy and the interested issues were discussed.
