Our country gives a special significance to the development of bilateral relations with the Islamic world and Arab world. Our country makes an effective cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in different, as well as in legal fields. The delegation consisting of lawyers of this country visited Azerbaijan, they were interested in judicial-legal reforms and positive practice of our country, as well as there was agreed the project of Memorandum of Understanding prepared about cooperation between two ministries during the visit of the vice-minister of the Kingdom to our republic last year.
For the purpose of signing this document, the delegation consisting of the minister of justice of Azerbaijan, chairman of Judicial-Legal Board Fikrat Mammadov, chairman of the Supreme Court Ramiz Rzayev, chief of the Head Office of Control and Organization of the Ministry of Justice Elchin Gasimov, chief of the Head Registration and Notary Office Ilgar Mammadov and chief of the International Cooperation Office Adil Abilov visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia these days by invitation of the minister of justice of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Figure of Two Holy Places, the King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud received the Azerbaijan delegation during the visit.
The King, stating that the development of cooperation with Azerbaijan is the priority for Saudi Arabia, mentioned with great pleasure the effective activity of the inter-government commission, stressed that, this visit would give gifts to the deepening of bilateral relations, as well as he supported fully the just position of Azerbaijan in solution of Armenian-Azerbaijan Daghlig Garabagh conflict, and that he is interested in establishment of peace in this region.
The minister of justice F. Mammadov expressed his gratitude for high attention and gave the letter and a massage of greetings of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev. He also stated the development of all-round relations between two countries and relations between the justice authorities, as well as that our country was interested in rich history and ancient culture of the Kingdom.
The King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud expressed his gratitude for greetings of the head of state of Azerbaijan and asked to give a massage of cordial greetings to the President of our country.
There was held a meeting with the minister of justice of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia within the frame of visit and the political will of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Ilham Aliyev and the Figure of Two Holy Places, the King of Saudi Arabia Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud was stressed in development of cooperation and friendship relations between our countries. The perspectives of mutual activity were discussed and there was made exchange of ideas about justice and judicial systems, activity of Judicial-Legal Boards of both of the countries.
The minister of justice of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Dr. Valid bin Muhammad Al-Samaani said that, he was informed about speedy progress of our republic. He showed great interest in judicial-legal reforms made under the leadership of the head of state, applied innovations, especially in activity of “Electron court” and “Electron notary” information systems, mobile and distant notarial services to the citizens, appliance of newly worked mobile notarial program and he appreciated all these. He expressed his will to be acquainted with the practice of our country in this field.
Then there was signed a Memorandum of Understanding about cooperation considering joint measures in the fields of modernization of justice and judicial systems between the ministries, improvement of legislation, electron justice, electron court, training of justice officials and judges and in other fields.
The ministers noted the exclusive role of this important document in development of bilateral relations, that they were sure in development of mutual activity on different directions and they agreed on concrete measures in this field.
As well as our delegation met with the chairman of the Supreme Court and Public Prosecutor of Saudi Arabia. They discussed the efficiency of justice judgement, simplification of appeals to the courts, appliance of electron court, election and training of judges, great interest was paid in development of bilateral cooperation and made exchange of practices.
At the same time, he visited the Riyadh Criminal Court - one of the greatest courts of Saudi Arabia, where about 70 judges worked and got acquainted with its activities, presented a presentation on the use of electronic technologies in the court for our delegation.
He also visited Saudi Arabia's regions and familiarized himself with the activities of local justice and judicial bodies.
At all meetings, the Saudi Arabian leadership has expressed its intention to expand cooperation with the republic in various fields and to share positive experiences, as well as increase the number of Arab tourists visiting Azerbaijan in recent years is a manifestation of great interest to our country. Our delegation has provided special brochures about modern justice, judicial reform and innovations, as well as scientific research on the history and culture of Saudi Arabia in Azerbaijan. The interlocutors also focused on the painful consequences of the Armenian-Azerbaijan Daghlig Garabagh conflict, the occupation of 20% of our lands and more than one million of our compatriots as refugees and internally displaced persons, and the Saudi Arabia's support for Azerbaijan's just position in the settlement of the conflict.
