The Ministry of Justice together with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) held a video conference on "Children's access to justice system" dedicated to the International Children's Day.

The event was attended by the officials from the Ministries of Justice, Internal Affairs, Economy, Labour and Social Protection of Population, the Prosecutor General's Office, the Ombudsman's Office, a judge, a representative of the Bar, program leader of the UNICEF office in Azerbaijan and members of civil society.

The meeting focused on the measures taken in our country to protect reliably the rights of vulnerable children, the interaction of relevant government agencies and civil society in this area, and the perspectives for cooperation with UNICEF.

The was told in the event about the high care of national leader Heydar Aliyev for the comprehensive development of children, legislative and institutional measures to ensure the reliable protection of children's rights in our country, it was noted that the state children's policy was successfully implemented under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, purposeful steps were taken to strengthen the social security of children, for their development into a prosperous personality in a healthy, high moral and ethical environment.

First Vice President of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva, who always treats children with disabilities, orphans and children deprived of parental care with care and sensitivity, congratulated our young compatriots on this significant day. It was noted that a number of projects have been held for education and health of children by her initiative, a new modern social infrastructure has been created, and the important activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in this area have been noted.

It was noted that the protection of children's rights is one of the important goals of the Sustainable Development Goals, which is reflected in the UN Agenda for Sustainable Development until 2030, to which our country has joined. At the same time, Azerbaijan and UNICEF cooperate closely in this field to develop juvenile justice. At the same time, our country has joined the "Declaration of Commitment" prepared by UNICEF, which contains the obligations of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in the field of juvenile justice, and the document was recently signed by the Ministry of Justice.

Speaking about the measures taken in the field of birth registration, it was noted that the registration departments of the Ministry of Justice registered about 48,000 births in the first five months of this year, including unregistered children were defined and about 700 birth certificates were issued in mobile form.

At the same time, there was made an extensive exchange of views on the provision of social services to children with limited health and special needs, their

rehabilitation, strengthening the protection of their rights in making judgement on criminal cases, training of law enforcement officers, judges, lawyers in the field of juvenile justice, for this purpose, organization of trainings at the Academy of Justice, provision of legal assistance services for children and their families in different regions, expansion of interaction of civil society institutions with relevant government agencies, etc.
