Minister of Justice Farid Ahmadov met with Monica Juma, Executive Director of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), during his visit to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The Minister congratulated Monica Juma on her appointment to the responsible position and wished her success in her future endeavors.
Monica Juma highly appreciated cooperation with Azerbaijan. Noting that there are opportunities to further expand cooperation in various areas, the UNODC Executive Director highlighted ongoing cooperation in preventing environmental crimes and cybercrime.
The meeting featured an exchange of views on matters of mutual interest in the fields of forensic examination, penitentiary services and probation, as well as within the framework of international cooperation.
It was also noted that focal points have been designated to facilitate the implementation of joint activities in a number of areas.
The meeting also addressed the exchange of best practices and the identification of new areas of cooperation.
